Fun Ways To Sing

This is a tried-and-true activity for every chorister, I'm pretty sure.  I have used these cards a few times, and they are a hit every time.  By changing up the way we sing the songs, we are able to sing them over and over again without seeming repetitive.  I have come up with a bunch of different cards that I've laminated (of course) - I only ever bring out about 8 at a time, so that way they get a good variety and don't get bored doing the same ones over and over again.  Here are the ones I've got so far, if I think of more I'll be sure and post them!  Enjoy!

  1. Found your blog through the yahoo group! I'm really excited about it, you have some FANTASTIC ideas! I haven't seen the sing backwards or sticky arms cards before...what are those?? :)

  2. For "Sing Backwards," I have the kids turn around and I go to the back of the room to lead the song. For some reason, that's one of their favorites!

For "Sticky Arms & Legs" I have them stand up and glue their legs together and their arms to their sides. This is good to help them practice standing very still. It's fun when we're done with that one to pretend that I can't get my glue off. They all want to come to the front to help me get "unstuck!"

Thanks for stopping by the blog!!

  4. We added some fun ones this week! We did Cowboy, Conga Line (we can only do this with songs that aren't especially spiritual). We kicked at the end of every line and then did a bunny hop, hop, hop, at the end of the song. I also make up something like Robot, Cow,Or Cat. We sing, "Meow, meow, meow" (good way to review the tune and not the words) or I let the kids tell me how a cow sings and we just go with it.

  5. I am having a hard time getting the Fun Ways to Sing to print. The "download and print" version (for higher quality) wants me to subscribe to Scribd and then upload a file to print his one. I can't get the regular print option to work at all. Is there another option for getting these to print?

  11. Wondering if you have the graphic for boys only and girls only on an 8.5 X 11 for the kids to hold like in the photo above?

Here are the graphics for the boy/girl. I've put them here in two different ways - there is a link to a PDF for you to print, or the links to the clipart online so you can resize/download to fit your needs. I hope this helps!
