{YourLDSMusicStore.com} Giveaway!!

{This Giveaway has ended}

Congratulations to Jan!  She commented:  "I can totally see using these cute little missionary bears in teaching "I want to be a missionary now" -- even teddy bears can share the gospel! ha!"  She is the winner of the missionary teddy bears!  If you would like your own bears, they can be purchased at elderteddy.com Thanks for participating!  YourLDSMusicStore.com is an awesome site, I know you'll find it useful!

I love music.  I love singing it, dancing to it (in my kitchen.  alone.), teaching it, and most of all listening to it!  There is no better way to change my mood or create a peaceful ambiance in my home than through music.  I am SO excited at the launch of a new website called YourLDSMusicStore!  It is the go-to place for almost everything in the LDS music genre.  You can download single tracks or whole albums, buy CDs, songbooks for instruments or choirs - everything!  The site is way easy to navigate, and there is a treasure trove of stuff to find there!  Here are a few things that have been on my MP3 player lately that you can find there!

In our house, Christmas starts the day after Halloween, with the songs of the holidays wafting through our house pretty much 24-7.  My husband glumly tolerates it, bless his heart!  I'm not a fan of the - let's just say repetitive - mixes on the radio that play the same Frosty and Rudolph songs over and over again.  I prefer the old standards, but am always happy for a new twist.  That is why I love "Come Let Us Adore Him" by The Lower Lights.  There are lots of great songs on this album, and the all come with a real folksy, vintage Appalachian style.  Their harmonies are exquisite, and you just can't go wrong with a banjo.  Ever!  Their "I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas" makes me feel all Christmas-y - I love it!

This is a picture of my baby brother, Elder Dillon Boss.  He is serving his mission in Vina del Mar, Chile.  I miss him like crazy!  There is NOTHING like having a missionary in the family!  There is an album out called "The Work," which is a tribute to missionary work.  *Sigh* It is awesome.  There is a song on there called "Bless My Son" that actually makes me cry when I hear it - I think about Dill and even though he isn't my son, those are the same feelings I have for him.  You MUST check this one out!

My daughter Georgia is LOVING Katherine Nelson's song, "Beautiful."  It has a great message that you're beautiful just the way you are!  It's girly and edgy - just like Georgia!

And of course, I can't post about music I love without mention of "Scripture Power" which is the sequel to the "Popcorn Bopping" CD that I am literally obsessed with.  The new CD has a version of "The Wise Man and the Foolish Man" that will knock your socks off!

  10. One way to use the teddy bears would be for switching between who is singing, boys or girls. Another would be when we sing the missionary songs in junior primary, I could have 2 children come up and hold the missionary bears!

  16. To use the teddy bears in singing time, I would see if I could get a hold of a large map and have the children put the bear on a part of the world they would like to go to on their mission and then sing "we bring the world his truth"

  29. We'd for sure use these bears in singing time! I'm thinking a game of turning "hot potato" into "pass the missionary bear?!"

  30. I will have all the children write down how they can be a missionary now, put them in the bears bag and every week draw one out and that child gets to pick the missionary song of their choice. I am thinking a little trinket to hand out to the chosen child as a reminder to always be a missionary...this just came to mind so I will have to get thinking of ideas for the trinket :)
